Working in collaboration with Surrey Quality Producers and other Surrey farmers and growers, Andrew Laver of All Time Catering has been trialling a Surrey Hills Menu from his outdoor catering business. The Menu was being successfully promoted via a temporary banner but the addition of a Surrey Hills Produce liveried trailer will give a better opportunity for providing tastings, promotions and sales of quality Surrey Hills produce. The LEADER grant programme was able to fund £17,000, half the cost of the new catering unit.
Andrew has focused on his unique asset of locally sourced produce branded as Surrey Hills. As this is a quality product at a premium price it will improve his business profitability. It will also promote the Surrey Hills brand at the many shows and events that the unit will attend. This will help to increase demand for local produce and hence benefit Surrey Hills farmers and producers.
Andrew also wanted to manage the carcass balance by wholesale to local butchers and food outlets which will also help create demand for local produce and the Surrey Hills brand. Additional employment will be generated in the outdoor event season.
