At present this task is carried out by hand – a time consuming and inefficient process. Surrey LEADER Grant Scheme provided James with £18,800 – half of the sum required to buy the telehandler. The project qualified for the funding because it:
- Provides locals wanting to install a viable, cost effective and sustainable alternative to oil and gas fired boilers with the product they require.
- Benefits woodland owners and managers by providing a market for raw materials
- Benefits woodlands, allowing increased management leading to increased amenity and wildlife
- Provides education in the form of tours of the woodfuel production facility
- Reduces CO2 emissions through the use of renewable fuel.
