Typically these projects qualify for funding of up to 40-50% of the total cost.
Below are examples of the types of projects that would be considered for funding;
- Activities that add value to farm produce ie meat cutting facilities
- Diversification activities such as farm shops
- Start up costs of a new non farming activity (including market research and feasibility studies)
- Marketing and promotion of a new product
- The renovation/conversion of farm building for a non-agricultural activity
- The purchase of shared machinery
- Creating a cooperative, for example, group sales of produce
- Modernisation of a farm building for agricultural use or the building of new storage facilities or workshops
- Developing renewable energy projects
- Moving into alternative agriculture for example niche and novel crops, energy crops
- Developing environmental services such as traditional trades to maintain and enhance the landscape
- Tourism enterprises
- Refrigeration equipment
